All White Walls…End of Phase 1

April 2, 2007 //  by Paint It!

Last week I completed Phase 1 of the "All White Walls" job. The last rooms I did were the Dining Room, Master Bath, Master Bedroom and that Kick Space under the counter in the kitchen. Here are the before and after pics for these areas:

Silver Mist Lusterstone Finish on top portion of Dining Room walls. This finish is 3 layers, the first is rolled on, and the 2nd two layers are troweled on. It is more green in color than pictured, w/ a silver tint. The finish looks like a soft, metallic suede. This room was difficult to photo because the window treatments were down at the time.

Kick Space "After" pic. Wall was base painted, then Aqua Stone was troweled over the dry base coat. Once that layer was dry, 2 glazes were applied and the entire wall sealed. This is an excellent finish for this space because it is extremely durable.

This is one of my favorite stencils, The Trumpet Vine. The flowers and leaves were randomly placed around the room on all walls. You can see in the mirror, the cherub sitting on the wall. This is over the jacuzzi. All stencils have hand embellishment added. The Trumpet Vine is a wonderful stencil from The Mad Stencilist, designed by Sheri Hoeger. The Cherub and pedestal it sits upon is from Natural Accents, designed by Lynn Brehm. I love all of the stencils both of these very talented designers create. They are well thought out and they always make me look much more talented than I really am!

Master Bedroom "After" pic. Again, walls were all white before. They were first painted with Ben Moore’s Cameo white. This elegant scroll design is done with a bronze metallic paint, and a soft brown paint. Highlights, which are not visible here, were added with a liner brush, using a pearl paint. This stencil comes from Royal Design Studios, another great source for incredible stencil designs!

I will be returning to this townhouse later in April. The next areas to be done will be some stenciling in the foyer, a fireplace wall, and a den that is used mainly by the man of the house. It’s been a pleasure working in this home. The homeowners are a lovely couple and it is just so much fun to see these white walls take on a whole new personality! I also made a new friend, Shelby, their dog, who to play with her pet Iguana!
