Ugh… I’m Wilting in this Hothouse!

June 24, 2008 //  by Paint It!

Entryway hothouse Oh, I was just miserable trying to stencil this ceiling in this entryway today. There is no a/c in this space and it was very hot and humid all day. Three sides of this space are all glass, so I might as well have been in a greenhouse today. It was so humid that my stencils would not stick to the ceiling for very long. I had three different spray adhesives with me and assorted tapes, but nothing was working. Also, the paint was not cooperating in these conditions either.

2 repeats done
I ran out and got some Ben Moore Aura paint, which worked much better. I did just these 2 repeats and called it quits because I still had the issue with the stencils not staying in place.

I put in an SOS to my friend Denise, who lives fairly close by to this job site. Happily, she will join me on Thursday to finish this ceiling! Four hands will make this job go by in a breeze… and hopefully by Thursday we will have a little breeze coming through that front door! Tomorrow I am off to the Cape for the day with Marc for some fun and a networking event for New England Home magazine.
