Oh, I just hate it when I miss posting here for so many days. This week just got away from me and I found myself racing from work, home to change, and out again for one miscellaneous event or another. Then I had to find some time each day to water my garden, so by the time I was done with everything for the day/night… it was time to go to bed!
Friday, I was able to complete all of my work in the Clubhouse portion of the Apartment Complex/Clubhouse job I’ve been working on. Because the halls are long and narrow, it’s hard to photograph with my little digital camera, but I’ll post anyway. If you click on the photos, they enlarge and you can see the details a little better.
- I will take you through the building, as you come through the front door. This is right in the entryway, a small arched ceiling. There is recessed lighting running the length of both sides, which gives a nice glowing effect to the Alium stenciled on the ceiling. They look like they are floating in the air above you when you walk through this area. The Alium is from the Stencil Library.
I don’t know why that “1” inserted, but now I cannot seem to remove it… please ignore. TypePad has a lot of “bugs” to work out and I am getting a little tired of all of the problems I encounter every time I try to post. When I report the issues to their “help” department, they are quick to respond, but always say they are working on the problems and hope to have them resolved soon. As soon as one problem is resolved, I find myself dealing with another new one! I may have to move my blog site soon.
Now we get into the long hallway of Fennel, another wonderful Stencil Library design! You’ve seen me do this about an half dozen times now. I even have it on the walls in my bedroom in my house. I love it. I only used 3 colors throughout this building for the 2 designs: a grey-white, saffron yellow and a pale yellow. I thinned the paints with a little water and used a dry roller brush technique for all of the stenciling. Very quick and easy. The stencils are large, so I sprayed the back to death with spray adhesive. I did go through several cans of the adhesive and my biggest challenge is always to find several cans in a store at once. Apparently, it is not too popular, so I find one or two cans here and there and just have to keep stopping in assorted stores to gather enough. When I am at the SALI Convention next week, I am going to see if there is a vendor who sells it by the case.
The stenciling was intentionally done very lightly. Marc (Bordet Interiors) wanted the look to be soft and just background… not in your face.
This Fennel design runs the length of the hall and on the walls of two smaller side halls, one leading to a fitness room and the other leading to the outside pool area.
To the left of the “Exit” sign is a short hall that has 2 bathrooms and a door that leads outside to the pool. To the right of the “Exit” is another short hall that leads to the fitness center. Straight ahead is the Lounge area.

These 2 doors are the bathrooms.
Well, it looks like I will have to post the interior of the 2 bathrooms and the Lounge in the next post, because believe it or not, it has taken me 1 1/2 hours to try to write and post just this much. Again, I experienced multiple problems with this TypePad service such as my screen repeatedly freezing, lost paragraphs, photos inserting upside down, etc. I have contacted their “Help” line again to see what’s going on. 🙁
I am also holding TypePad responsible for any weight gain. I ate almost an entire bag of Swedish Fish while waiting around for my photos to upload and/or a link to work!
