Oh, I can already see that I am going to be very discombobulated this week, since I started my work week yesterday, on a Sunday. I am working with my friend and fellow decorative painter, Stacy, on this hair salon job. Because the salon is only closed Sundays and Mondays, that’s when we have to get in there to get this work done. We have 2 large rooms and 1 small room, that is the reception area to do… oh, and a small bathroom. We will be doing the ceilings in all areas, except the bathroom. The only walls that will be done will be in the reception area and the bathroom. We are starting with the ceilings, doing the hammered/brushed steel finish described in my last post. We decided to concentrate on the biggest, main room and the reception area, feeling we could complete these 2 ceilings by the end of today. Next Sunday we will return to do the back room ceiling and the walls in the bathroom. Last to be done, will be the reception area walls.
This is the main, front room of the salon. We had a lot of furniture to move into the back room, so we could move around easily with our ladders. We also had to tape off and drop some plastic down from the moldings, so we would not splatter all over the mirrors mounted to the walls and the counters. We were ready for a nap after doing all the prep.
This is the reception area that will be painted. There are 2 ceilings here. The one in the background and the taller ceiling in the foreground. This ceiling has a lot of vents and recessed lights, so although it’s small, it will take a lot of time to do. This area will also eventually get a shimmered rust treatment on the walls.
So, we are off to hopefully complete these two ceilings today. I’ll post the results tomorrow.
