Down On The Farm

October 20, 2008 //  by Paint It!

Down on the farmLast Friday was a great finish to a hectic week. Stacy and I had teamed up again for the week since we were both feeling overwhelmed with a lot of small jobs to get done, proposals to write and client consultations. We felt we could cover more ground if we teamed up for the painting and split up the other behind the scenes tasks. By Friday we were both ready for an easy day, so we headed 1 hour west of Boston to a Equine Veterinary who was in need of having a few barns stained. We were subcontracting this job, just for the day, from a friend of Stacy’s.

It was an absolutely gorgeous Fall day here in New England. Even though we make a lot less money doing this type of work, we both like the change of pace and find straight painting quite relaxing. The bonus of being outside on a sunny, warm Fall day, with some beautiful horses watching us and vying for our attention, made it a total mental health day for us!

Barn This is just one section of the barn. We were able to get 2 coats on 2 sides. The back side needs to be power washed first and repaired in one section. There is one more long, low barn that also needs to be stained. The beauty of this job is that the owner is not in hurry and just wants to have as much done as weather permits. It was nice to not have to work under any pressure or deadline! Someone else will take over the remainder of the painting, although we may try to come back one more day, if the weather and our schedules permit.

HayI am just including this picture because I love this giant iron rack that is mounted to the side of the barn for hay. I could see it filled with lots of pumpkins!

We all need days that have lovely weather, no pressure, horses and pumpkins. I’m glad I stopped by!
