Two weeks ago, I received a phone call from a woman who I did a small amount of stenciling for, back in 2002. I had done a few rooms for her daughter and then ended up stenciling a simple vine on the soffit in her kitchen. She and her husband have since repainted the kitchen and a small bath, so she was calling to see if I could come and add a little stenciling. I love these types of jobs and clients. I’m in and out in 1 day and usually the client knows exactly what they want. Plus, they are all ready to go, having had the room painted, so all other contractors are long gone!
I sent this client a few ideas via email and then set up an appointment to visit her home and further discuss options. I swear, I barely had my coat off and she had already picked out her designs from the first batch of samples I showed! Literally, I was there 15 minutes, and that was stretching it!
Yesterday, I returned to do the work. In the kitchen, I used this Palazzo scroll design from Royal Design Studios and added these flowers taken from the Sweet Flower vine stencil, The Mad Stencilist.
It was a fairly good sized kitchen, so this room and the bath below, took me most of the day to complete.
Just when I thought I was done with this kitchen….brushes and paints put away… I realized I forgot to do the soffit above the refrigerator! I got everything back out and did this small section.
In a small first floor bathroom, I used one of my favorite stencils, the Classic Grape Ivy, again a Royal Designs stencil. It’s quick and easy . I can’t tell you how many times I have used all three of these stencils over the years. They are just timeless designs that are very versatile.
