Chip Brushes

December 15, 2008 //  by Paint It!

If there were a prize for the most use out of a 99¢ chip brush, I would probably win. I don’t know what it is about my chip brushes, but I just have a hard time throwing one in the trash.

Old chipA recent look at my sad brushes shows you how well loved/used they are. On this particular job, I realized my thriftiness was working against me. Because the bristles now looked more like a jagged saw blade, I could not get a clean edge at the ceiling line. The sad looking bristles were so worn down, that the brushes had no flexibility.

In my defense, it’s been a very busy month and I have had little time to replenish some basic supplies. When I got to this particular job site and began glazing my walls, I soon discovered that my chip brushes really needed to be replaced. I wanted to get started on this small job, since I only had this 1 day to complete. My clients were hosting their annual Christmas party the next day. After I worked a few hours, I took a break and ran out to the nearest hardware store to replenish the chip brushes.

New chip
Ahh… the joys of new chip brushes! 🙂 I’m sure I’m not alone with my reluctance to throw out such an inexpensive brush, right???
