Day 2: Chaos Reins at the Day Care Center

February 16, 2009 //  by Paint It!

ChaosOn this second day at the Day Care Center, I was hoping to complete the 4 windows in the basement. Because this Day Care Center will be opening very shortly, all the furniture is arriving and most of it has to be assembled. The basement, on Friday, was the only area completely carpeted, so all boxes were dumped in this space. Upstairs, on the main level, the carpet pad is down, the painters are frantically base coating each room, plumbers are installing the bathrooms, and electricians seem to be snaking wires everywhere.

Two young men, who seemed to speak mostly French, kept me company down here all day, assembling the furniture in the center of the room, while I worked around the perimeter on my windows.

Fall
This is the Fall scene. I was able to get to this stage with 3 of the 4 windows. The valance will have some polka dots and a rod w/decorative finials. I will also add more detail to the sill and something will sit on each sill that relates to the season of the window. This one will have a red apple on the sill. I will take some close up shots, showing the detail of each window, when they are complete. Because of all of the boxes and assembled furniture in the room today, my angles and movement were limited!

I used the same cat and dog, peeking in, for all 4 windows. Here they are dressed up with witches hats for Halloween.

Summer Window
My Summer window is the most detailed. I have a picnic scene, lots of flowers and the dog and cat. This window scene needs a little more detail, then I can add the framework. I will have a baseball sitting on the sill.

Wintercloser
My Winter window will have a mitten resting on the sill. Oh, my dog looks a little sad here. I think I’ll have to give him a happier face!
