Fun Stripes

January 11, 2010 //  by Paint It!

I almost forgot to show you this happy little bedroom I did for a 6 year old girl last month. These two shots above are the "before pics". The walls had just been painted with a pale green on the top, a pale yellow on the bottom and a new chair rail was installed.

Afterstripes

I started by adding some pink stripes all around the top portion of the walls.

After2

I enlarged one of the angels from the bedding and added it to this one slanted wall. This way, when the little girl is lying in bed, she gets to look at the angel. The artwork you see below the chair rail was done by the room’s occupant, with that sticky wax-like material that can be peeled off any time. Sorry, but I can’t remember what this stuff is called… sticky something?

Close up
A closer look at the angel. I did the wings on RocLon canvas and glued them on, just tacking close to the body, so the wings would be loose. I also used a glow in the dark paint over the wings and on the star wand. I tested it out in her dark closet to see how well the wings would glow and they looked great! I love the soft colors the homeowner chose and this room is just a very happy feeling room to be in!
