Scaffolding Problems Continue

January 26, 2010 //  by Paint It!

Susan and I were very excited to learn that the scaffolding was set up for us today and that we would be able to resume our work in the foyer.

Maybe...

We arrived at the house, eager to work. We have two big scaffold units on site, one for each side because there is a low overhang that divides this foyer. At first glance, the set up looked promising.

Too high

Upon closer inspection we realized there were some problems. This scaffolding is too close to the ceiling for us to be able to work. We need to be able to stand on the top platform and move around. We could barely sit on this without our heads hitting the ceiling. We also specified railings around the top platform for safety. Where are the railings???

Useless planks

This second scaffolding set up is just scary. No way would we stand on those two planks with no railings. Also, the railings are extremely wobbly and unstable. Neither of us could find a solid, staple support to grab onto to get onto the main platform.

Susan on phone

So, here is Susan on the phone to the scaffolding company, discussing what needs to happen next. They will return tomorrow morning to make the necessary adjustments on one and said they will replace the unstable unit with something better.

Ugh! They didn’t put any planks at the lower levels for stability?! Still, congrats on getting it in and started!

Maybe they thought you were already a pro at balancing acts. But anyone who would risk working on an unstable platform is crazy. Were you able to have them fix that? How did the project go?
