Master Bath

April 27, 2011 //  by Paint It!

I had one more room to complete before my Milton clients went off for a vacation in London. While Chris and I were busy working on the Foyer and Upstairs Hall, a contractor was installing a new tile floor in the Master Bath. This Master Bath is quite small, so I knew I could have it done in two days, once he was out of there. Warren, my favorite painter, came in and put on the base coat, two coats of Sage Modern Masters metallic paint. The finish for the walls in here will be a Celedon Green Metallic Foil.

Just foilThis is actually the first time I’ve done a full room of foil. I have used foils often, but just in small areas such as door panels or wall panels. They are quite easy to use and the result is just a very unique finish. This is also the first time I have not put a stain or glaze over the foil finish. My client loved the color "naked", so I only sealed with a clear sealer.

Of course, I could not stop with just the foiled walls. This client likes a lot of bling, so I used a set of five different Oriental Floral Vine Elements from Royal Design Studio’s Kimono Collection. More foils were used for these, mostly coppers and golds.

Swarovski crystals, left over from the Foyer project, were added for embellishment. I used a large gem for the center of the flowers and smaller gems on the leaves.

The room is small, the lighting was hard to adjust to photograph the foils without a lot of glare.

The color is off in this photo and the next, but you can see the crystals much better than the above shots.

After doing so much stenciling with a brush in the Foyer/Upstairs Hall, this was a very nice change to do this room entirely with foils.

While my clients are away, I will be working on some ideas for the Master Bedroom, which is directly off of this bathroom. I’ll show you the fabric sample and rug that I will be working with tomorrow.
