I thought I’d start off this week’s cabinetry series showing you this small makeover done in a Butler’s Pantry that had been converted to a home bar. The closet sized room has shelving for glasses, a small sink and refrigerator, as well some cabinet storage. The pantry is in an older, historic row-house.
I did this job a few years ago, and cannot find a lot of pictures of the work in progress. The cabinets were quite old and handmade. They were painted white. After glazing the framework, I applied a hologram foil to the panels.
Layers of glaze were done over the foil, and some stenciled flowers were added using a metallic plaster. The final layer was an allover glaze to tone everything down. The panel frame was painted gold.
This view is looking into the pantry from the formal livng room.
Here’s a close up, showing how the glazed hologram foil looks with the soft lighting inside this pantry area.
