In my last post I showed you some lettering done using “Say What” lettering. For this small project, I used my second method. My client wanted a flying pig, with the saying “Pigs really can fly”. The soffit area was narrow, only 5” high, so that did not leave a whole lot of room . After a little playing around with fonts, point size and spacing, I decided on a bold, italic font. I also wanted the pig to appear to be flying above the start of the phrase, so had to keep adjusting the pig size and angle so he would fit with the 5” height limitation, yet not be minuscule. I do all of this on my computer.
At the job site, I taped up the lettering and pig I had printed at home.
Next, I replaced the mock up with the stencil I had already cut.
I cut out the outline of the pig design to use as my stencil so I could have the basic shape. I freehanded the details.
The lettering is done in a dark brown.
Here’s a close up of the pig. 🙂 A fun job!
