A New Border

August 6, 2015 //  by Paint It!

SoffitThis is my second time stenciling this soffit area in this client’s kitchen. I was here back in 2007, stenciling a scroll design. I just tried to hunt it down on this blog site, because I’m sure the past design is featured here, but not easy to locate, so I gave up the search.

Some updates have been made to this kitchen with new counters, window treatments and wall paint, but the homeowners missed having a design element in the soffit area, so reached out to me for some suggestions.

Stencil

This design was selected, colors chosen, and I was ready to go. I don’t do too many
multiple overlay stencil designs these days, but they are fun to do and give a look and dimension that is hard to achieve with a one overlay stencil.

2layer stencil

I went around the room, doing only the first overlay, then started again with the second overlay.

Close up

For the berries and some accents, I used metallic creams, which gave the pattern a nice warm glow.

Completed borderIt was a fun day project. nice to see an instant transformation, and reconnect with this sweet client!
