Today I am revisiting the two stair walls. They have been scraped, primed with an oil based primer, and painted. I begin by doing a test, applying low tack blue tape, randomly, on both walls, as well as pieces of the vinyl stencil I will be using.
I also have to measure out my lines again for the border on both sides, which seems to take forever to get it right this second time around. 🙁
Next, I pull off the tape and vinyl test patches, and yay… they pull clean! The vinyl border goes up.
I trowel. I glaze. I let dry. (over the course of two days)
Time to bite the bullet and remove the vinyl. Big sigh of relief. Not one speck of paint comes off the wall.
Here are some photos of both walls and looking downstairs into the foyer from the second floor:
With the exception of a few heart stopping moments, this was a very enjoyable job. Thanks again to Sherry Ward, owner of Off the Wall Custom Stencil Designs for her hard work and support with the vinyl stencil, and to P.J. Goddard for lending a very much needed helping hand.
